William pears are beautifully aromatic with buttery smooth flesh and a delicate sweetness. Enjoy them crisp and refreshing, or let them ripen to silky perfection for cheeseboards, salads or simple sliced indulgence. You will find them at your local greengrocer for $3-$6 a kilo.

Donut peaches are summer’s little treasures, flat and fragrant with juicy white and yellow flesh low acid and high in sweetness. Slip one into a lunchbox or enjoy it chilled straight from the fridge for a refreshingly snack. Your local greengrocer has donut peaches for $3-$10 a kilo.

Enjoy the crisp, juicy, and sweet flavour of freshly picked new-season apples from Batlow, Bilpin and Victoria—featuring varieties like Fuji and Royal Gala, are retailing at $4 to $10 per kilo.

Both yellow and white fleshed peaches and nectarines continue to eat delicious. What more at $4-$9 a kilo this season’s fruit is still great value. Halve peaches or nectarines, roast with vanilla, a splash of maple and a pinch of cinnamon until syrupy and soft. Spoon over thick Greek yoghurt with toasted almonds. It’s an indulgent breakfast or easy dessert.

Sun ripened and at their peak, in season grapes deliver a cool, juicy crunch. Naturally sweet and wonderfully refreshing, they’re perfect for effortless snacking, entertaining boards or a chilled treat straight from the fridge. Pick up a kilo or grab and go bag of green, red or black grapes prices will range from $4-$20 a kilo.

Exquisite lychees are a popular choice for Lunar New Year. Super juicy and refreshing, the season is almost over so a kilo will be upward of $30.

Celebrate Lunar New Year with longans (also known as dragon’s eyes). Sold in clusters still attached to branches longans, have a sweet, jelly-like flesh similar to a lychee. Longans are $15-$30 a kilo.

Late summer is the perfect time to enjoy plums. Eat them fresh, poach, stew, or microwave for a quick treat. Use plums in crumbles, tarts, and pies, or make a batch of spicy Asian-style plum sauce! This versatile condiment is the perfect accompaniment to grilled chicken, fish, or lamb. Plums are $3–$15 a kilo, depending on the variety.

Mango season is wrapping up in the next 3–5 weeks, but late-season varieties like Silky, Kent, Palmer and Pearl are still available at your local greengrocer. These mangoes are exceptionally sweet and full of flavour—so don’t miss out!

Queensland grown white and red dragonfruit are in plentiful supply this week, priced from $4 to $14 per kilo depending on colour, size and quality. Refreshing, lightly sweet and visually spectacular, they are made for summer platters and smoothie bowls.

VEGETABLES

Fire up the wok and celebrate Lunar New Year with a few Asian style dishes. Bok choy is a mild tasting leafy green that adds flavour and texture to a stir fry is great value at $1.50-$2.50 a bunch, try it in this red chilli beef and bok choy dish.

Bean sprouts are delicious in stir dishes and at $2.50-$3 for 150g packet, they add texture, taste and flavour.

Add brightly coloured red capsicums to stir fries, casseroles, pizza, pasta dishes and is delicious cooked on the barbecue. Field grown red capsicums are $3-$5 a kilo while the glasshouse capsicums are $5-$7 a kilo. This wok-fried red curry vegetables with tofu is a healthy choice for a mid-week meal.

Golden cobs of sweetcorn are a popular buy and a family favourite. Boil whole cobs or remove kernels for fritters, muffins and salads. Buy sweetcorn for 70¢-$1 per cob and chargrill, boil or microwave.

Broccoli is one of the most nutritious vegetables, packed with vitamin C, iron, and potassium. Easy to prepare and versatile in the kitchen, it’s a great addition to any meal. This week, broccoli is excellent value at $4–$6 per kilo.

Cauliflower is a versatile and nutritious choice, whether roasted, steamed, or transformed into a creamy soup or mornay. Pick up a head this week for just $4-$5 each.

Eggplants are a versatile and nutritious addition to any meal, whether grilled, roasted, or stuffed. Grab a kilo this week for just $3-$7 per kilo.

Refreshing and versatile Lebanese cucumbers are $4-$5 a kilo. Store cucumbers in a crisper section of your refrigerator, do not store with fruit, as they will deteriorate rapidly.

Snacking tomatoes like Cherry, Grape and Mini Roma varieties are a thrifty buy this week at $2-$3 a punnet. Save more with multi buy specials from your local greengrocer.

Late summer tomatoes are bursting with flavour and perfect for any dish, whether sliced, roasted, or blended into a sauce. Pick up a kilo salad or truss tomatoes for $4-$7. Pair them with fresh basil for a simple yet delicious caprese salad, drizzled with olive oil and a touch of balsamic vinegar.

It’s long been a tradition in Italian families to gather once a year to make and bottle fresh tomato sauce. Tomato or Passata Day general takes place late January to early March. Plump ripe roma tomatoes, from Victoria in 15 kilo boxes, are ready to cater to this time-honoured tradition. Boxes are retailing at $35-$40.

Ideal growing conditions and peak season supply have delivered an abundant, high-quality selection of flowers this week, perfectly timed for Lunar New Year celebrations and thoughtful gifting. Bold, celebratory colours lead the way. Red, gold, yellow, orange and vibrant pink blooms remain the most sought-after choices for Lunar New Year arrangements, each symbolising luck, prosperity, happiness and positive energy for the year ahead.

Chrysanthemums are a standout favourite, representing longevity and joy. Golden and yellow varieties are especially auspicious, traditionally associated with wealth and good fortune.

Seasonal highlights also include lotus pods for texture and symbolism, lush hydrangea, native tea tree and flowering gum, sunflowers, premium roses, banksia, elegant dahlias, snapdragons, fragrant oriental lilies and tuberoses, zinnias, celosia, classic calla lilies, Singapore orchids and pineapple lilies.
